I downloaded this for the Triple Triad card game. So far the game is fun and well designed. Its exciting to see the art and memorable characters from all the different games, but there are some things that need to be changed to be worthy of a five star rating and the Square name. You are limited to one game per crystal, and crystals recharge at one per 30 minutes, if you want more you have to pay. This is the type of game I want to sit there and play a lot of games in a row to earn more cards, but Im not going to pay per play. This game NEEDS a one time fee premium cost that allows for unlimited play.

Triple Triad is a fun game but the fact that a match only takes a minute and you only earn a new life every 30 minutes is terrible. Plus, if you buy or earn extra "stock" past 5, those are used *before* the ones you get every half hour. Awful. For the portal app itself, rewards for browsing around are just ridiculous. Everything you can possibly do in the app now gives you less than 30 points total, and the cheapest triple triad card you can unlock is 80 points. These points apparently expire every two months so it looks like you need basically constant activity reading and viewing every piece of content possible to even hope of getting the more expensive stuff. I doubt itll be even possible in the first few months. This could be good, but the design and planning are an embarrassment plus the freemium implementation is flat out abusive. You wont be finding many people in matchmaking because most people will get annoyed and never return after a few seasons.

Cool app, but one game that lasts 2 min every 30 min is just sad. If Gil wasnt so expensive Id consider buying some. What a shame.

Square apps...... It wont accept either of my email accounts. I live in Canada maybe this is an issue for just me but hard to use an app and judge it when it wont allow me to sign up

Triple Triad is great and all, but youre limited in how many times you can play it. The only way to play more is sit and wait or dish out cash repeatedly …I miss those days where you paid for something once…

I love Triple Triad, but the lives system is just awful. Horrible. Terrible. Id rather just buy the app outright. This is frustrating beyond belief. Game Center auto-match hasnt worked for me yet either.

Great app with great potential. Love playing triple triad again but HATE the waiting to play more than 5 matches in a row.

The app itself is great. An easy way to access all the latest news and games. Im playing the portal version of FF 1. No complaints. It must be my umpteenth time playing the thing. My only complaint is that Triple Triad costs money to play anything more than 45 lightning fast rounds in a 24 hour span at the absolute most. I really thought this would have been free. It was my favourite part of FF IX and a perfect addition to FF XIV. This is.. Like any other "Free" to play game. Triple Triad is a card game I want to grind for hours. It plays great though. And the collection is great!

Every other time you launch Triple Triad the app is broken and needs to be redownloaded... I have never seen this before in ANY app. The fact that there is a "redownload data" button built-in speaks for itself. Absolutely horribly made.

Im really enjoying this app. Although triple triad should truly be its own app. I would pay for a game that intelligently gets more difficult as I gain points and experience. Triple triad could be an incredible hit if it were its own game. Not a game hidden within an app. No one is going to find it there.

FF2 is free right now, amazing deal, optimized for touch screen too!

Triple triad online is so nice like interface and a lot of cards to obtain. Awesome!

The app is good. No bug, no problem. But there is a BIG problem! Change the online mode cause its empty! Im trying to play online since September and its always the same story: "looking for some players". Sometimes more than 2 hours. I cant win cards cause I always play in solo mode and there are always the same cards. I dont know if the problem is about my country (Italy) or its just empty the versus/online mode. The game is awesome and it might be more interesting if you can just fix this. I would LOVE play online against all people all over the world. Always loved Square Enix, please, fix this. Except that, the news app is so damn good!

Just downloaded the app and it wont let me sign in with my square Enix account.

Every time I open Triple Triad, the app crashes. Sad, because I like the game.

But now the app cant even load up the news stories on it.

I dont normally bother to write reviews but I felt the need on this one. Triple Triad is a beloved mini game in FF VIII. Easily one of the most engrossing mini game in the series. This app manages to capture some of that but a few points derail an otherwise enjoyable game. 1. Stamina Timer: absolutely ridiculous. I realize they need to make money. But having to wait half an hour for 30 seconds of game time borders on the absurd. That kind of setup is almost a parody of itself. And then, its essentially a dollar every 30 seconds to play with in app purchases! Whoever came up with this model of gameplay needs to be fired immediately. 2. Online multiplayer: this is where you can really feel the burn of pay to play. Finding a match (which can sometimes take minutes, much longer than the actual match) is only the first agony. Once you actually find someone to play against, theyll have the same 5 "power" cards as the other 95 percent of people who play online. There is almost 0 variety in online play, to the point where its not even worth the effort unless youve given up sleep in an attempt to farm the power cards. And with apparently no ranking system for online play, youre sure to be matched up against those same overpowered decks over and over, until youve simply given up.

There is simply no excuse for an app to be a just a wrapped up website. Ill change my review when this is built for iPhone
